Milpitas Town Center: Mixed Use Retail and Residential Development
Located next to City Hall, this 25-acre retail and residential project is a prime example of mixed use and smart growth under the careful eye of City staff. A through understanding of phasing construction was necessary in order to serve existing lessees, such as Big 5, El Torito, Red Lobster, and Giorgio's while constructing a series of new buildings including a Safeway and a Staples. Aliquot navigated a challenging permitting process that included requirements from Caltrans, Hetch Hetchy, utility agencies, and the City. The shopping center contained extensive public utilities, which had to remain in service during the construction of the new area. Aliquot provided engineering design to connect to and maximize the use of the existing utility infrastructure. This included planning for the necessary backbone infrastructure system to serve the residential subdivision.
