Christie Avenue Bay Trail Gap Closure Class I Bike Path and Pedestrian Intersection Improvements, City of Emeryville
Aliquot was retained by the City of Emeryville to convert a vehicular travel lane into a Class I Bikeway. This project required the study and design of a multimodal route through Christie Avenue between Powell Street and Shellmound Street, as well as redesigning three existing impacted intersections. Aliquot provided right-of-way engineering, engineering design, hydrology and hydraulics calculations, and land surveying services.
The services in the Conceptual Design Phase included topographic survey, final conceptual design, and preliminary cost estimate. The Detailed Design Phase included PS&E documents. The project required eliminating one of the travel lanes and merging it with the existing sidewalk to create a separate Class I Bike Path and a separate pedestrian walkway. In addition, a C.3 bio-retention basin landscape strip was incorporated into the project. Aliquot managed a team of consultants and met the City’s schedule and construction cost expectations.
